THe colour was very deep red amber black, and there was a light head. The aroma had light malt and chocolate. The taste showed tannic wood and dry malt. This won a silver at the Australian International Beer Awards. Here's their description: A rich malty black beer with hints of caramel and chocolate. Slightly hoppy with a dry roasted finish. Tall Black's deep chocolate colour and caramel sweetness are derived from the heavily kilned and roasted malts. Tall Black is best served at a slightly warmer temperature of 10-12 degrees centigrade.

Note 1 I am not really a beer expert (just an enthusiastic amateur), so please don't take my recommendations as anything more than a rough guide to these beers. I can take no responsibility if you buy a lot, on my recommendation, and then regret it!

Note 2 You may not agree with my evaluation of these beers as a lot of this is quite subjective. I tend to put a lot of emphasis on freshness and intense characteristic flavours and bouquet, so if you disagree you might just have different priorities.
